WIW - Wake up! It's Time for Some Neon! :)

I was in the mood for some neon yesterday so i put this outfit together for work. The pink, polka dots, headband and curly hair were starting to feel too sweet all together so i added some tougher booties and tied my skull scarf onto my bag. Ahhh, that's better! :) I also wanted to add some awesome silver spike bracelets i have but i'm nooooooot sure that would be very well received at work so i switched them out for the ones i'm wearing instead.

This is a remixed outfit (i think? I'm honestly not 100% certain what people mean when they say that...*blush*)! Picture #4 is how i wore this cardigan, top and ring back in 2010! Everything else is either different, or similar but "updated" with where my style is now.

More photos + info on where my clothes are from on my blog

Thanks for looking! Say whatever you want to! :D

Niclole, this is a great tutorial on how to toughen up a sweet outfit. The ways you mentioned, plus the difference in tucking, belting and buttoning up between pictures 1/2 and 4 make a bit impact. Thanks for treating us to your fab styling skills!

That's my sort of pink! Love it paired with black and the little polka dots! I also like seeing the two versions - as your 2012 one really does look more current with the buttoning up and no over belt.

P.S. I didn't get to comment on your other thread, but now you've got me trying to get to a thrift store to put leather sleeves on one of my ON cargo vests. . .although I could always head to SR Harris to find soft random leather pieces. . . did you also see the DIY about making a leather clutch pouch? For your Etsy store?

Love the remix! You are like the awesome cool girl I envied in the 80s, only modern and sharp!

I love the structured look of the fully buttoned up shirt with the hot pink soft cardigan - fab remix!

Love the edginess of the scarf and shoes with the hot pink!

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

Very nice! I adore neon pink and yellow.

MNSara - ha, awesome! PLEASE be sure to share with us if you do this project!! I saw a blogger with one of these coats that she got an Forever21's 50% sale and i scuttled over to MOA to look for one but no luck. ;_; Also, can i have a link to that DIY project please?

ironkurtin - i'm actually pretty nerdy and awkward - not very cool at all haha :B

Angie - Neon pink...and yellow? Is that a subtle hint that you wanted to see yellow in this outfit?

Thanks to everyone else also for you nice comments! <3

One of my favorite bright shades.....done so well.
The studded bracelets would probably be over the top fantastic but these stacked up bracelets look perfect too.

Doesn't everyone "remix"? I wouldn't feel guilty wearing that look often.

  • ironkurtin replied 12 years ago

    Nerds are the new cool!

The skull scarf esp. take this OTT. Love the booties as well.

You do girlie tough so well! You also hae me rethinking polka dots. I like how yours are small and widely spaced. Hm... now where is that neon orange shirt I bought recently??

I don't get remixing, either, honestly. But I do like seeing the "before and after" shots, since the longevity and versatility of the items shows through.

This brought a smile to my face! Nobody does polished girly tough like you, Nicole!

Love it! Given my conservative office environment, I'd have left off the skull scarf, but you totally carry it off and look amazing!

You've inspired me to give one of my closet orphans another try. It's a bright pink cardi with white embroidered flowers. I've always kept away from pink because I associated it with being ultra-girly, but bought it anyway as part of an outfit. Well, now the rest of that outfit doesn't fit and I haven't found ways to use the cardi. It's also a crew neck and I prefer V-necks. But I'll keep looking for ways to use it...so thanks!

I love this look, Nicole! I can't believe I am saying this, having lived through the '80s, but I am so into neon right now, especially citron yellow!! You look fab. I love the polka dot, buttoned up top and the boots and scarf add the perfect amount of edge.

You rock! I almost bought a neon pink skinny belt yesterday. You are giving me neon fever now!

  • Victoria replied 12 years ago

OMG, i love it-its cute and girly! I love pink on you:)

ChristieAnne - oh i most definitely repeat outfits. I just wasn't sure if i was using that term correctly. :)

ironkurtin - thanks for the therapy haha XD

Rae - glad i'm not the only one that didn't get it! Can't wait to see your neon orange top!

Sunita - i agree that skulls aren't exactly office appropriate. My purse hides under my desk for most of the day so i figured i could get away with it and still feel like "me" when i ran my errands after work.

Jonesy - Yes! Rock some neon! :D

Una - Neon fever makes me think of the SNL "more cowbell" skit. I've got a fever...FOR MORE NEON!

I figure as long as I don't start dressing like an extra in an '80s aerobics video, I should be okay :).
