WIW - A dress + a skirt + shiny burgundy combat boots

OR are these boots still a deep red? ;)

I thrifted this dress when i found my batwing coat as well. Since it was a little on the short side i decided to wear my Vince Camuto mesh skirt underneath it to give it some length + a fun layered look (cause, you know, i'm addicted to layering).

I found these boots at Target and i could not say no. They also have a super fun metallic sliver color online. They do seem to run a little small though (if anyone cares?), i wear a 6.5/6 and i bought these in a 7.

I actually have two different sized feet. One foot is a 6 and the other a 6.5. It makes shopping for pumps very annoying, thus i don't have many pumps. I've been thinking of opening up a "near match" shoe store for years but i may be the only customer? :(

Thanks for reading! All types of comments are welcome! ;)

Adorebale!!! You have such KILLER style and are absolutely gorgeous! Love the details and spirit of your outfits!!

  • Arya replied 11 years ago

Oooo, I love this layered look! Your accessories are excellent, too. A well crafted outfit.

Incidentally, my feet are not the same size, either, though I don't think it's even a half-size difference. Still, I think that a near-match shoe store would have lots of customers, because it really isn't uncommon to have slightly different-sized feet. Then think about all the ladies who have bunions, get one foot operated on and then have two different sized feet until the other foot gets corrected. You could help them stay well-shod and comfortable!

Now that is some beautiful layering.

Great boots! I have black ones but love the deep red (could be burgundy too). My right foot is a 10 1/4 semi wide (I broke it years ago and it never fully recovered) and my left foot is a 9 3/4 Medium. I always fit the right and have to be careful not to fall out of the left.

You and your pics always look like a fashion mag photoshoot! Details on the belt?

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

WOW! That is stunning, Nicole. I just adore it. I would love to copy in some way, though I'd have to translate it to make it work for my age and climate.

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

Wow, that is an amazing outfit. I love the layering, and I love the boots with it!

I love your shoe business idea! My right foot is wider and has a higher instep so I think we have similar feet. A size 6 might feel perfect on the left but would be too tight on the right. Yay for lace up shoes and insoles. It is impossible for me to wear pumps as well. Slingback shoes are the only way I can experience a pump. I seem to remember wearing pumps when I was younger and not having this problem. It's like my right foot grew when I turned 40.

As for your outfit, it's fantastic! Love that color on you. Love the fringe bag (I own a fringe bag too, we might be the only 2 on YLF who do fringe). And the skirt layering idea is so clever.

DonnaF - the belt is Steve Madden but i found it in Marshall's clearance section. :)

Thanks for sharing your feet troubles ladies! In the past anytime i talked about my different sized feet issues i just got crazy looks lol.

Denise - Are we really the only fringe lovers on YLF?! Crazy!

And Suz i would love to see your take on the outfit! :)

  • Irene replied 11 years ago

I love those boots. Yeap, I do.

  • Vicki replied 11 years ago

You are a natural when it comes to styling and I love the way your black hem plays along with your fringed bag, Nicole. Like Suz, I plan to copy you in some way, as I just got the Magic Nine West dress in red and have some red booties coming. What a great autumn goal: To copy nicoleb! :)

That dress is fantastic - very smart to layer the skirt underneath. Gives it a nice layered effect plus keeps it "decent". LOVE those boots! They look like Docs but at a fraction of the price. This whole ensemble is fantastic Nicole!

  • Jenava replied 11 years ago

Nicole, Nordies will sell you two different sized shoes, FWIW!

LOVE the shiny booties, esp. with this cabbage rose print.

  • Reneeb replied 11 years ago

Love the shiny red boots with that dress. You always look so fabulous.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Wow, those really do look like docs - and the color is TDF! I bet there would be customers for that business, I guess the trick would be stocking the sizes?

  • Ingunn replied 11 years ago

You look really smashing! The boots and the dress are perfect together. I have feet in different sizes, too:)

Fab look! So '90s!!! Were you a teen in the '90s. Nicole?

  • nicoleb replied 11 years ago

Thanks ladies! You guys make me smile. :)

Angie - I am definitely a 90s kid! I didn't turn 13 til '97 but i have a lot of fun memories from that time. I loooooved the Spice Girls. ;) I still like their shoes.

Una - i bet your Target's will have these soon! I think some stores don't have their fall stuff quite out yet and others already do.

texstyle - wow, thanks! There are plenty of days when i feel i don't know quite what i'm doing with my camera but it's kind of been a trial by error process

Jenava - omg thanks so much for that info i had no idea!!!

Shannon - yes they are definitely knock off Docs. :D Soooooome day maybe i'll be able to have real ones.

Vicki - can't wait to see it! :)
